I am planning to buy a evga ftw 980ti.I currently have a i5 3450, gtx 660, 8gb ram, 1tb wdwd blue hdd and 250gb ssd, 3 120mm and 1 200mm fan and g502 mouse. Currently using a cooler master thunder 600W psu. Apart from the gpu, I am buying a 2tb wd black, k70 rgb and 8 more gbs of ram. I decided to buy a Evga G2 650W psu. Will it be enough for my upgraded build? Or do I have to shell out more cash for a 750w psu? Alternatively, will my current cm thunder 600w be enough?

Also what's your opinion on evga ftw 980ti? Any known issues or something? How does it compare to other custom 980tis like gigabyte g1 and xtreme, msi gaming and asus strix?

Solution
The spec sheet for that particular card says 600w.
A quality psu in the 650w range is fine.
I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

Correct. When i bought my G1 GTX 970, i sold my ThermalTake 530W for a Corsair VS 650W. Better to be safe than sorry :)

Your current PSU will be enough, though the EVGA G2 650 would be a nice upgrade in quality. EVGA recommends a 600 watt PSU for the 980Ti FTW and these GPU manufacturer recommendations tend to be generous. I can't find the amp recommendation for that card. The Cooler Master calculator is closer to 500 watts: http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/

The GTX980tiftw needs a 6 and a 8 pin power connector as well as the pcie slot for power.
That combined is 300w. You can assume that the FTW will use all of it.

Normally, the rest of the components are not that much, particularly for the more efficient intel chips.

The issue becomes how much can you trust the power delivery capability of a given psu.
A cheap unit, not at all; a quality unit will deliver more than advertised.

Coolermaster quality is variable. CM Thunder?; I do not know.
