So I've had a problem with my motherboard not recognizing that my hard drive is connected in the BIOS. I can hear the hard drive working, however it seems to make a weird skipping noise followed by a squeak. I'm not sure whether it's the motherboard or the hardrive at fault here. Here are my specs:

Motherboard: Asus Z97-E
PSU: Top power 500wb bronze
GPU: Nvida evga Geforce GTX 950s
CPU: Intel core i5
HD: Seagate 500 gb

Something to add, I recently had replaced the GPU to the one I currently have, and that gpu had problems mainly because I didn't have software to control the fans. The computer would bluescreen because the GPU would get too hot

Hi there ep1phany,

In case the drive is not recognized, you need to use different cables(SATA and power ones) and attach it to a different SATA port. If it is squeaking, I would totally agree with popatim and say that it may be a good idea to RMA(replace) it.
In case the drive is accessible and you have some data stored on it, you need to back up the data stored on it. Then, you can test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Let us know how this goes,

Alright. The GPU's fans start when turning on the computer but then they turn off after a few minutes. Also, I was able to get the motherboard to recognize the hard drive, however when i try to go onto my profile it creates a temporary profile, however I can still see everything in safe mode. If its not too late, ill see if i can return the GPU.
