Graphics Card Causes Computer to Randomly Shuts Off and Requires Manual Reboot

My computer has all of a sudden been shutting down randomly when playing games. I have come to the conclusion that the problem is that is causing the shut downs is my Graphics Card, and I can sometime get a 45 min game session in (CSGO Competitive Match). On a previous post it was recommended to preform stress test. My CPU worked fine on its stress test, but when I preformed a GPU stress test my PC shut off instantly.

I have had my computer for around a year without problems until a month or two ago. I have tried rolling back NVidia Drivers, and blowing out as much dust as I can. I am planning to clean out dust and dirt, and possibly buy more fans for my PC. I have crash logs with no information that I can use from my knoweledge and abilities.

First thought would be the mobo, which doesn't show as supporting the 8350

Also the PSU is a split 12 volt rail neither of which has more than 22/23 AMPS

PSU might be getting weak from being sort of over used - do you have access to a different PSU or could you borrow one to try

I will be testing with my brothers PSU soon. would it make sense to put in a Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply, or bump up to a 750W model of the Corsair CX

To be honest I won't touch the CX series, they are made with weak caps, if going to use one though go the 750

New Information, after putting my PSU back in, it worked fine and the stress test was a success. I believe it there may have been a loose cable or weak connection. Thanks for leading me to the problem! :wahoo:

The B1 is a single 12v rail - about 675 or so watts on the rail and believe about 55 AMP

Your call, modular can be easier for cable management if space is tight in your case, though all in all, a regular non modular works fine in most cases, I use and try a fair number of them so I'm no overly particular as long as they have plenty of power for whatever I'm running

@byshameless, before you go buying a new PSU, read this message thread in it's entirety and see if it's possibly related to your issue. I understand that you think the issue is fine now, but just in case, I wanted to make you aware.

I didn't fully read your question and missed the "cheap price" part. Arctic Silver 5 is a very well known standard. But if you want cheap, then ask any friend that's installed a 3rd party heat sink. Most of them come with thermal paste, so they probably have the stuff laying around and can give you what's left over for free.
