Can this laptop be replaced with a better ssd?

Solution
Well, I guess so, although a lot of this would be filled up with system files for faster booting. If you want to have faster performance overall, I'd suggest that you ask if you could get the same model with an SSD instead of an SSHD. However, if you do have that option if you don't want the price to change a lot, it would be with a lower capacity e.g. 250GB for example, but you'd have to check for yourself as I can't be sure about that.
Hey there_3df.

Unfortunately, no. You can't replace the 8GB SSD as this is not a separate drive. From what I see the laptop comes with an SSHD (a hybrid drive). Hybrid drives are part HDD part SSD. The SSD part is a really small one like 8GB in your case and is used only for caching. It stores the most commonly used programs and files, so that you access them quickly. However the rest of the drive (the HDD) part is just a normal hard drive with platters. So if you want to replace your drive it will be the whole thing, you can get an SSD and replace this drive. which has 1TB HDD storage capacity and 8GB SSD flash memory.

Sorry but as official WD representative I can't really recommend a specific brand or model, but I'm sure that the guys from the community will be more than helpful with that.

Hope that helps.

But if I want to change the whole thing to an SSD, I can do so easily right?

Vmware will be my most common program, so will it be stored on the SSD part?
