Hi, I'm wanting to add an extra hard drive and have come across 2 that I like. Apart from the storage size which is the quickest and better of the 2?

500GB Hard Disk Drive
Serial-ATA (SATA)
3.5" Form Factor
7200RPM

Or

Seagate desktop SSHD 1TB, SATA
III 6Gb / s

Thanks Richard

Solution
the 1tb drive will be a bit faster.
as drive sizes increase the data that gets stored gets smaller, takes up less space. This is called areal density, the higher the AD the faster data can be written/read.
the 500GB drive will have 1 platter and 2 heads. 250GB per side
the 1 TB drive will more than likely have one platter too, 500gb per side.
the seagate drive is a hybrid drive which means that is has a small ssd (8-16GB) built in, it uses the fast storage afforded by the SSD to use that as a cache for storing data for fast retreival. the data is still on the magnetic platter but the most often used data will be cached to the SSD for fast access.
the seagate sshd will be the fastest of the two by a ways.
