Hi, I'm wanting to add an extra hard drive and have come across 2 that I like. Apart from the storage size which is the quickest and better of the 2?

500GB Hard Disk Drive
Serial-ATA (SATA)
3.5" Form Factor
7200RPM

Or

Seagate desktop SSHD 1TB, SATA
III 6Gb / s

Thanks Richard

SATA information is junk, EVERYTHING IS SATA these days. 6GB is junk, current HD can't do more than 1.5 gb/s.

Form factor for desktop internal HD will always be 3.5" - 2.5" is exclusively, for all practical purposes laptop drives.

This reduce us to 7200 or 5400 (according to your criteria) OR (for your pleasure) WD INTELLIPOWER. Very simple. Faster Spinning = better performance but you pay in more noise, vibration and heat, hence *maybe* shortening longevity, and an ever little increase in power consumption. Pick your poison.

I humbly suggest a new criteria, FACTORY WARRANTY PERIOD. There are 2 years, 3 years, and 5 years. See how much more$ they want to charge you for better warranty. For example, am on the market for a 4TB drive, the difference between the 2 year warranty and 3 year warranty is but only usd$10. Guess what I went for.
