Hello, I'm looking for a processor to get for £150; it has to be LGA1150. And if you can, maybe not too hot as I'm having to go for a low profile cooler as I have a MicroATX case (feel free to recommend a compact CPU cooler, the budget is £30, I could push to £37.50 at max). The CPU has got to be able to be cooled by this: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=505 - this cooler can cool a 4690k at 50c - 60c under gaming load (AC Unity Ultra Settings) and it is 77c - 79c when the CPU is overloaded. (from http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/silverstone-cpu-cooler-ar06) and this guy had 75c under load (https://youtu.be/drZwP9G_Kos?t=7m34s)

If you're reading my computer specs; I know it says I have a i5 4690k, and that is true, but I am borrowing it from a friend, and am having to give it back. The processor that I own that was in my PC before was a Pentium G3220.

Thanks in advance.

The i5-4460 is your best bet, I found this guy for £150.19 (that's after shipping) that's as good as it gets at that price point: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_56079.html

As for the cooler, I don't know what you consider compact, but this little guy's ~75mm with the fan and 48mm without, and it'll do a great job of cooling the 84W i5. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-ph-tc12ls-120mm-cpu-cooler-hs-016-pt.html It's £35.97 after shipping, so a bit over budget but not too crazy.

Thanks for the reply.

I've had the i5 4460 in mind - I've also been considering trying to find a cheap 4690k, 4690, 4790 or 4790k. I'm personally more convinced with the cooler I chose (http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=505). It uses copper heatpipes, whereas the one you sent has aluminium heat pipes. The one I chose has a higher RPM, and is also smaller in height I believe (58mm to 74.93mm). Correct me if I'm wrong - you probably know way more than I do, thanks again for the help.

P.S: I know this is irrelevant, but I love your profile picture, AC/DC are awesome!

If you can find a higher-end used CPU, definitely go for that. I just checked ebay.co.uk and 4690K's are going for ~£175 after shipping, but you might be able to find something local for less money. I can't help you there though :/

The AR06 would be great too, it may be a bit louder but would have better cooling performance. That one didn't even come up in my search, but you'd know more about where to buy parts in the UK than I would.

P.S. Thanks! Seeing them live before they retire is definitely on my bucket list \m/ >_< \m/

Thanks a lot! I don't have an awful amount of decent local computer stores near me - I have a Maplin nearby; but they don't sell second hand. Plus - I don't care too much about how audible the machine is aslong as I can hear a game, my friends and my music well enough - I'm fine - my GPU typically has a high RPM anyway.

P.S: If I weren't so young I'd have a chance at being able to see them before they retire and I wish you luck on seeing them before they retire.
