Hello guys ! I am planning to buy a good cpu cooler for gaming & no O.C, and i am really confused should i go for air cooler or liquid cooler.
I want to play ultra high games , i am using gtx 970 n i7 4790k processor.
Please advise cpu cooler:- high end or budget cpu cooler .

Solution

Personally I would suggest the air cooler. Even a cheap one like the Hyper 212 will out perform most 120mm All-in-One liquid coolers. I say that from experience, having had a 120mm AIO, a 240mm AIO, and now a nice air cooler. My air cooler is quieter, cooler, and was significantly cheaper than the 240mm liquid cooler.

Find me a better mainstream CPU manufacturer. Intel stock fans work within specification and he doesnt need anything else.

I was just responding to that one particular part of your comment, nothing more. No need to be defensive.

As to what the OP needs, versus what he wants, lets stick to the latter, since that is what has been asked of us. Speaking of which, under gaming load an i7 cooled by the stock cooler will easily hit 83°c, whereas even a cheap CPU cooler such as the Hyper 212 would produce significantly lower load temps of around 53°c, and it will do so while remaining quieter than the stock cooler.

So, in summation, an aftermarket cooler will be quiter AND cooler under load than stock. That is reason enough for anyone to want an aftermarket cooler.

You have an unlocked CPU and a board that allows overclocking, i'd go with a cheap decent air cooler.

Probably the Hyper 212 x : http://www.amazon.in/Cooler-Master-COOLER-HYPER-212X/dp/B00HNSD69O

You still need to tell us what case you have fella, because otherwise we can't give you a straight answer. Personally, I'd go for an air cooler, and most likely the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO which should be available where you live.

Thanks. The Hyper 212 will fit quite happily into that case, and you shouldn't have issues with the CPU cooler clearing your ram either. Grab yourself one of those, and if in future you do want to try overclocking you'll be ready to go. In the meantime it will run quieter and cooler than your current stock cooler.

The GX900 will fit a 240mm radiator in the roof, so it would all depend on how thick the radiator was. Bearing in mind that you have to fit both the radiator AND the fans in the roof space, and make sure it clears the top of the motherboard properly.
