For some reason my core i5 3570k was being WAY over volt'd on the manual and auto settings. Stock cooler/heatsink. Ran CPU-Z and a couple other programs and it was giving it 1.3-1.4Voltage for 3.5-3.8ghz.... Thing was hitting 89-92C. Any ideas on why it'd do this? I manually set the voltage to 1.1 and it seems stable.. ran prime95 for 2 hours without a crash and the hottest it got was 69C. Weird..... Good thing I caught it before it fried. I ordered the Noctua NH-D15 it should be arriving tomorrow. I plan on attempting to overclock to around 4.3ghz. Pretty sure 1.3v is even too much for 4.3ghz from what I've seen other people overclocking with this chip.

Well this is a disaster then. Who knows what the real voltage is ever at. I'm just going to blast it to 4.5ghz and hope that it doesn't explode. Just going to do everything manually.

You are always better off doing it manually anyway, so you shouldn't have too many issues. Read through that thread I posted, there seems to be an awful lot of advice and info in there regarding this problem, and hopefully it will be useful to the pair of us.
