A good base for a starter gaming computer?

I'm looking to help build a gaming PC with my friend, on as limited a budget as possible. I've found a deal that I feel would be a good base:

Intel i5 2400 3.1GHz
4GB RAM
750GB hard drive
unknown dell case, psu, and motherboard.

Obviously I'd be switching out the case for one I have laying around (Raidmax ATX502-wbg) and the PSU I'd replace asap, but for $189 would that be a good starter? GPU would be added at a later date, possibly a GTX 750ti to start with.

Problem I can for-see.

The Dell case will probably have its own special mounting point for the motherboard, meaning you can only fit the Dell motherboard inside the Dell case.

This was at least the case for me many years ago when I tried upgrading my old Dell machine piece by piece.

I don't believe this will be an issue, as the release date of the series was early 2011, and by that point I believe they had moved past proprietary parts.

It's the Dell Optiplex 790 SFF, if anyone has experience with the model.
