Hey guys, I am creating a parts list on PC Partpicker and I would like to get a build with a Pentium G3258 for overclocking. The mobo I have selected is an Asrock H97 Anniversary edition. I have chosen this board because it is designed for the G3258 (apparently) and that it was super cheap. Now when I overclock, I would like to get around the 3.8 - 4.0 GHz range. Will my stock cooler be enough or should I get a more powerful aftermarket one? Thanks for your advice...

Solution
Get the Z97 Anniversary which is what i have with i5-4460

It will have a menu for you to choose frequency and the stock might keep it OK but Better test the temps and if they are high get an aftermarket one

CPU performance benchmarks are exactly the same on h81 and z97 if the clock speed and memory is the same.

You can run faster memory on a z97, but real world performance increase with memory above 1600mhz is pretty small

You can SLI 2 graphics cards on a Z97, but why?? a gtx 970 is good enough for almost anything, and more powerful pascal cards are on the way.
H81 is limited to 16Gb of RAM, which is plenty for normal use
You can run a faster SSD on some Z97, but Sata III is plenty for almost anyone

Have I missed anything?

You missed the pci 3.0 or 2x3.0

The OC ability
The m.2 socket
More sata ports
You missed the better power delivery that the z97 has
More ports
More quality compoments
Dual bios many times
1000 Software features that they support
No USB 3 support (header)

But we can continue this all day... but its a thread about something else than that
