Intel Core i3 6100 vs AMD FX 6300

The i3 has much much stronger single core performance than the FX6300, so i would go for i3. Cons about this choice is well, the price.

Definitely go for Intel Core i3 6100 and a budget Z170 or B150 motherboard because it's faster and provides future upgrades possibilities. AMD's Zen cpu and architecture is coming; it's not wise to build a AMD system now unless your budget is really restrained and some particular apps you need run well on AMD's platform.
