Hello.

I am currently running Windows 7 that I upgraded from OEM Windows Vista (64bit).

My question is can I transfer this to a new PC and how would I do that - do I install Windows from the Window 7 disc or install Vista first and then upgrade?

Thank you.

This depends completely on what licenses you had/have.
If OEM, then no.
If you Win 7 is an Upgrade, then no.

Solution?
Sell the old PC, and use that to fund a new OS for your new machine.

This is not totally true, the part that I must dispute is the Win 7 Upgrade version. If purchased from a store as an upgrade you can install the OS once without enter the key code. Once it is finished reinstall the OS again over it then enter your product code and it will activate.

The reason for needing to install twice is the Upgrade version needs to have an existing OS already installed on the drive in order for the authentication to work properly. To get around this just install the OS twice then enter the authentication code. I have done this many times myself when changing motherboards or wiping HDD's/SSD's for a fresh install.

I have the OEM System Builder Pack - I had my PC custom built and chose to have Vista and the Windows 7 upgrade at the time.

When I first bought my computer, I chose to have Vista and the Windows 7 upgrade - they had a deal where if you bought Vista, you would get Windows 7 free when it was released.

Does this count as purchased from store?

Seeing as this started with an OEM license, you're probably out of luck.

No. The free upgrades were given as OEM codes so this is not like the store purchased upgrade version. I recommend going with USAFRet's suggestion on selling the old system, as long as you don't need it, and purchase a copy of the OS you want.
