I backed up all personal files from my windows 10 PC to my Samsung 1 Terabyte external hard drive. Then, I had to reset my PC because some store icons were not working. Now, all my personal files are on the backup and they are not opening. The error message reads "Couldn't mount file. The disc image isn't initialized, contains partitions that aren't recognizable, or contains volumes that haven't been assigned drive letters. Please use the Disc Management snap-in to make sure that the disc, partitions and volumes are in a usable state."
Please help me if you can. Thanks.

Hey there, tia101.

You could try copying the files to a different location and try to open them afterwards. Other than that you could try clicking with the right-mouse button and selecting properties. Check if there's an option which says "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer" and select "Unblock", to see if that fixes the issue.

Other than that you could try accessing the drive via Ubuntu Live USB, to see if it's properly recognized and if you can get to your data. Or try out data recovery software: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html and http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm.

Hope that helps. Please let me...

Hi, It might be possible that your Samsung external hard drive file system has converted into raw format. I will suggest you to try Test Disk tool to scan and fix your hard drive.

Good Luck!
