I need help OCing Ram and CPU

Hi, I have a 2GB stick of 667 MHZ Ram and a 2 GB stick of corsair xtreme performance ram 800 MHZ Both DDR2, I need to overclock them because they are not giving me the performance I need for GTA V, I have no idea why, but CPU - Z is showing them running at 333 MHZ..... My CPU shows 3.1 GHZ in bios but it's only showing 2.5 GHZ (stock) in windows, I have the q9300

667/2=333.5
the ram is running at spec. the 800 is running at the slower 667.

well another question is could I put 8 GB of ram in this board even though the site says max of 4?

I've seen a lot of people online with 8 GB in a 4GB or even 2GB board

that depends on the BIOS version. the original BIOS probably had a 4GB limit. BIOS could have been updated, or they may have Modded the BIOS. IDK
I would make sure the BIOS is at the latest revision and try it.
thats an old system what do you have to lose really? too much ram will just hinder boot, nothing permanent.

true, but I only have $50 to work with so it would kind of suck to waste it on something I can't use.

just an example
there are tons of used ddr2 on ebay cheap. that is the good thing about ddr4 coming out lots of surplus ddr2 available if you buy RAM check the manufacturer for lifetime warranty, makes buying used a little easier.

What is your mobo - if it states a max, that is probably the max. Would guess you are running a 32bit OS so can't use over 4GB as is. I'd put the money aside towards a new rig or if you can find one a better mobo, maybe a P43 or P45 chipset

I have a 64 bit windows 8.1 OS, but I ordered a CADD Motherboard because they can be heavily modified and it has socket 1156, which is obviously way better and newer then 775
