I ordered a black WD drive, ssd from amazon along with a couple other items neodymium magnet disc (
MAGCREDIBLE® Magnets - 1/8" x 1/16" Rare Earth Disc, Package of 100) including they were packaged in the box together. I am worried that the magnets might have ruined the hard drive and ssd? should I return it?
edit: there was a fairly large box with the hd, ssd, in seperate boxes and the magnets were in a plastic container

Hey there, tSatoZi!

@spooky2th has a point here. The worst case scenario is that the magnets could damage the severely the data stored on the drives. However, to keep your peace of mind you should definitely test them with their brand-specific diagnostic tools and check up on the health and SMART status. For your WD HDD, you should use Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows and make sure you run both the QUICk and the EXTENDED tests.
As for the SSD, you can try some SSD-specific testing tools that would allow you to check its health status as well.
If there's anything concerning about their state and performance, you most definitely need to get in touch with the resellers' customer support.

Best of luck! Hope we were...
