the computer is a "dell optiplex 560". the computer is a desktop. the tower lays down. i had ti open the case by pulling a lever out. and that popped up the lid. the hard drive is under the cd/dvd drive and the floppy disk drive. i think i need to remove the screws. but that cant be right because the screws are to just hold the harddrive together. i cant see or feel any cables or cords connected to the harddrive. so hopefully the picture helps you to help me.

i have work on a similar one.

the drive is mounted to a blue bracket which is lock in place. there are two latch on either side of the drive near the mid point. I think you squeeze them and pull it towards the power supply and then lift up. I dont have one to look at so im guessing since i seen too many dell over the years. it should lift straight up once its cleared the case mounts

You can alway just go to dells site and look at the service manual for the machine,

psoohoo
