Hi, my fx-6100 is completely bottlenecking my gtx 960 gaming 4gb, it runs great but the CAM app tells me like every 2 minutes that my cpu usage is already at 90-98 and about to reach its limit, and if i dont open the side case and start my big fan next to it, it overheats. it causes inconsistencies in the game and i'm thinkin in buying the fx-8320e 8 cores, 4ghz I think. Its cheap and my mobo is amd so I can't get any Intel processors. is the fx-8320e stock cooler fine? because right know it's summer in my country and my hot room makes my pc even hotter. so what should i do?

Solution
AMD has changed the way they calculate CPU temperature since they released the FX CPUs. None of the temperature reading software will read accurately an FX CPU. The only option is to read the thermal margins in AMD Overdrive. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2122665/understanding-temperature-amd-cpus-apus.html Have a look here if you do not understand how it works. In terms of performance, you need not to worry about any kind of bottleneck happening between your components. They way I see it is, either your get a decent aftermarket cooler or if you really want to upgrade you can look at the FX 8370. AMD have released the FX 8370 with their new CPU cooler named Wraith. Keep in mind, your motherboard does not take lightly an 8 core...
Your first post makes no sense - whats a CAM app ??
Also you will never ever see 98% usage on any 6 or 8 core fx chip in gaming - & I do mean never ever.

It sounds to me your problems are entirely temperature & throttling related more than anything else - the 6100 is not great but will run a gtx 960 at a decent level IMO.

Also you have to take into consideration your motherboard model before considering any upgraded , you havent mentioned this so what actual board is it ??

depending on your country and your psu i would get the 8320/8350 whichever you can get the best deal on. Since your stuck with amd they are your best choices to push your card the best. Until dx12 really starts using more cores the rest of the cores wont really make much of a difference until then.

You CANNOT push 98% usage on any 6 core chip while gaming mate - it is absolutely not possible.
There is not one single game out there that will utilise all 6 cores on any fx chip to that extent.

Are you sure the CPU is not throttling at high temps?, this would possibly cause that scenario

Have you got a link to that overlay software so I can have a look at it??
