File copy to phone freezing at 2 min

It's a 4,5GB file could it be that size is a problem, before I tried transferring around 100Mb of music and it had no problems. But now when I try to copy $,5GB one it stops at 2 minutes and then error saying The device has either stopped responding or it has been disconnected.

If your phone is anything but a Windows phone or you specifically formatted the memory card to exFAT, you CANNOT transfer a 4.5gb file. FAT32, which most android phones use, supports only 2GB files, and will throw an error when trying to write more. If you can't compress the file to fit under 2GB, you will need to split it up.

You may try mounting the storage as MSC, instead of MTP and see if that helps in copying the file. Fat32 Formatted Storage will not support a single file of more than 4 GB I suppose.
