I have a dell studio xps 8100, i3 540 3.06 ghz and windows ultimate 32 bits and 600 watts psu, and have 4 slots in motherboard and my maximum capacity of ram is 16 gb. But my question is what is my maximum ram per slot? Is it 4x4 = 16 gb or 2x8 = 16 gb? I already bought my kingston 1600 mhz 8gb singlestick and my rig can run only 1333mhz i know it fits me but i cant run my pc when i put my ram in my mobo. Does it affects or not and what would you recommend me so i can use my current 8g ram singlestick to change my windows to 64 bit? Can it be thnx for all your help. Kindly review my mother board because i dont know i need urgent answers thnx

Your motherboard cannot handle an 8GB RAM stick.
There is no fix for this.

The documentation says so.
Your boot attempts confirm this.

4 x 4GB is the max you can use.

If your computer won't boot with the 1x8GB stick in the slot, then it doesn't support 8GB sticks and (as USAFRet mentioned) this is also supported by the actual manual (which you should download and print out for future reference).

And USAFRet is also correct in that you'll have to go to Win7 64bit to be able to use anything more than 4GB of RAM. You CAN put the 16GB in and still run the 32bit OS until you upgrade to the 64bit - that wont keep Win7 32 bit from starting up, but you'll ONLY be able to access 4GB (or 3.2-3.5GB actual depending on some of your configurations) until you go to 64bit.

And I've tried some of the hacks for enabling PAE to access higher amounts of RAM in 32bit Windows - it's a pain and I've not been able to get it to work. The easier solution is just go 64bit.

So when i put my ram in my mobo. Is that a common problem i encounter . And the ram itself is not bad but my mobo cant handle 8gb ram single stick? And also i have a question. I will use 1333 mhz ram or 1600 mhz ddr3 ram? Which is suitable or 1866mhz?

Maybe. Mixing RAM is always a crapshoot.
