Clean install Windows 8.1 no product key or disk

Hi everybody,
My laptop has been running very slow lately. I have recently build my self a PC. The laptop is no longer my main computer but it is still nice to have. I backed up everything I wanted from the laptops HDD to my main computer. I opened up the area where the RAM and HDD are and I was not able to find the product key. I have seen people say that sometimes the keys are encrypted into the BIOS. My laptop is the HP Pavilion G6. I want to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on this laptop but I don't have the product key or the disk. Also I can't get into the OS anymore for some reason.
Thanks!

Unless you have previously deleted it, there should be a factory recovery partition.
Look in the user manual to see ow to invoke that.

Windows 8.1 also has a feature that removes everything and starts clean. Just open windows search and type "reset this PC". You can still download a clean install disc through microsoft. But I don't know if this will work with the product key that's embedded into your system.
