Greetings-
I was reading about an embedded board, and user manual contained what I put in the subject line. And I want to know what is RTC, and what is the significance of it supporting Gregorian and Persian calendar? Are these the only type of calendars out there? I do realize I could do a search online, but I figured I ask someone more knowledgeable than me and avoid having to guess what RTC may stand for. Any ideas?

It is an Atmel development board based on ARM architecture. I don't know if the model number would add any value to the conversation, nevertheless I would be glad to share it.

I appreciate it. I was more curious about the significance of Persian calendar; i.e. why they would support Persian and Gregorian.

Since computers are general use systems, and there is no way to know what application will be running what and where, the computer has to know how to handle odd dates. Thus support for multiple calendars. Say in calculations which is often come to compare or do math on dates. 01/01/2010 100 days from that would be different in a calendar that does not use the same months or days in a month as the Gregorian calendar. What day would 4/10/3250 fall on 100 days earlier if you don't know how many days are exactly in a month?
