Greetings people

I'm in the happy situation that my trusty 750 2.7ghx i5 with a HIS Radeon 6800 decided to quit on me this Sunday - it's been dying in the last week but had hoped i could settle for a new video card - sadly with the games I'm going to get , "it" wouldn't let me settle for that
I've patched 2 systems together within my means - based on what I've been reading on this page as well as others - I have no idea what I'm doing but think i landed somewhere in the right area.
From Komplett i can get r9390x which would set me back about 12000dkkr. - i have my 1 year old 800w power supply i hope will be working still - if not I'll be going another 1500 or so over budget...

And then there's the other option

i could go for a 970 gtx at 2900(same price as the standard r9 390) - the r3 390x is 5-600kr. more expensive... so not that huge a deal - but I'd save the 650kr on the casing(if it's even big enough in the first place) as i do have a case(but it's not big enough to house the 390x...). so in short - dropping the r9 390x would save me 1300kr.

i could of course throw that towards upgrading to a 980 - but... from what i can gather, a r9 390x is slightly better than the 980...
Or i could completely throw out this list and get something else. I've looked at the i5 6600k, I7 4790k both are and i7 5820k i'd save either 1k or spend 1k more depending on pick

Primary use of system - gaming - secondary use, school papers, movies, mail etc.

Long term goal for me - I'm a student - 1½ more years till i can land a real job making a decent living and have the means to go all in on a system - right now, my budget is capped - 12k is a bit steep but if it means more value now compared to spending more later it's a good tradeoff...

so I'd have this sytem for at least 2 years - i want to play X-COM 2, Total War: Warhammer, Deathwing, The Division and possibly Battle fleet Gothic.
to begin with, I'd be playing on 1080p as i can't afford a 1440 or 4k screen - maybe in about a year, i can afford 1440... that is my plan anyway.

really long term, once i graduate and find an income, I'd be building a new system and handing down this system to a family member - if it lasts that long.

Anyways, I'll appreciate any input from more tech savvy gamers.. :)

I don't really believe in future proving and flashy LED lights... I just wanna get the best for my money without spending too much for nothing :) having said that, my old comp lasted quite a while and didn't show it's age till this week :/

4690k and a 970 or 390 is a solid suggestion. it's possible that the newer skylake cpu's are the same price but i'd have to see a shop your going to buy at to verify.

but overall this build would last as long as the one your replacing easily and provide a long time worth of 1080p gaming goodness :)

i realize the 390x is overkill at 1080p - but would it be cheaper long run getting it now, then in 1 years time upgrade screen to 1440 - as the card is not too much more expensive than the 970. or would i be better of getting the 970 and in one years time with new cards etc, upgrade to different card and 1440p?

Basically i want a system that for the next 2 years can run anything on max without any type of lag - spent the last 4 years with semi-low graphics and lag so wanna try the other spectrum now, but without investing in 980i :)

basically from the shop i'm getting it from, the standard 390 and the 970 is same price at kr.2900 - 390x is kr.3400 and 980 is kr.4500 while the 980ti is kr.5500.
and hopefully in 1 year i can afford to go 1440p - dunno about new gfx cards at the time but it seemed a pre-emptive purchase of 390x would be the sound choice compared to the 970? It's just a guess on my part :)
there's also the option of getting a 970 now and sli it later - or get a better card at same time as 1440p in a years time...

as for the i7 skylake, it seemed the better value/money atm but I really have nu clue - I just read a lot about dx12 and multicore that sounded like it would be a good investment :D but i'm happy for any advice
i5 4690k with fan - kr.1900
i5 6600k w/o fan - kr.2200
i7 6700k w/o fan - kr 3000
the Motherboard i picked for the skylake is kr 1300
for the 4690k I have no idea what would be a solid pick - i can see there's and Asus z97-a for 1300 but having said that, there's a whole list to chose from https://www.komplett.dk/category/10111/bundkort?cnet=Processor-socket_A03202%20%20%C2%A7LGA1150%20sokkel
- edit - the gtx970 strix OC model costs 3200 - so for another 250-300 i get the 390x.. this is all so confusing :/

You won't see a huge difference between the 4690K and the 6600K. Go with whatever is cheapest, and if they're close enough go with the 6600K to get the more modern features.

I think the best bet for graphics cards is either the 390 or 970, and of those I'd lean more towards the 390. DX12 performance on AMD cards looks promising, and the 390 has a lot more VRAM than the 970, which will come in handy since games are exploding in VRAM usage.
