Checked many threads of similar headings, but none seems applicable.
I have a 2TB secondary HDD (for data only) on an old Win7 PC that I'd like to move into a new Win10 PC. On both PCs the (default) user is "foo", but the two "foos" are not the same to the OS,
I suppose I could not use the built-in transfer utility as those involve archiving the data.
If I just plug the drive into the new PC, All the data on it would be owned by a different user, and I'd have complaints about access etc. I could recursively change the user to the the new "foo", but that is a massive job and involves (I suppose) writing most all files/folders.
I assume the id is actually just some entries saved in the registry which could be edited to make the two "foos" identical, thus getting the ownership problem fixed. am I right, and how can I actually do this?
Thanks!
Sean
