Hello!
I'm confused about 2 laptops from 2 sides price & performance
Both has same specs except GPU
1st one has Geforce GT 920M (Dell brand)
2nd one has AMD Radeon HD 8750M and cheaper then first one by 65.06 US Dollar (Acer brand)
And not really caring for price but focusing on performance
Recording to game debate it's has the same performance
But GT 920m is newer and direct X 12 Radeon once is direct X 11.1
So what should choose?
Is the extra 65.06 US Dollar worth it?

AMD's DX12 is very good on the GCN architecture and is probably the best supported, Heat is hard to say on a notebook it depends on the cooling design implemented on the notebook. Going through many notebook professional review's will show this is an issue so it is hard to say. But most notebooks actually seem to tend more towards 70C-75C as an upper bound unlike desktops.... As far as drivers AMD is currently supporting GCN architecture based...

They are around the same performance the HD8750m is slightly faster in most cases but will likely use more power (so if you plan on gaming while on battery......). The other factor is that the 920m should generate less heat. Besides those two there is no performance reason to justify going with a notebook that has the 920m over the 8750m.

Also as long as it can take the newest drivers it is a DX12 part being that it is based on AMD's GCN architecture. I do believe acer notebooks allow you to install AMD's reference drivers so this shouldn't be a problem.

So what should go for?
I understood that go for GT 920m for less heat and battery
Well I'm looking for the direct X 12 supported once and Battery life doesn't matter a lot for me but
I want the best performance for gaming I know both aren't good for gaming but looking for moderate gaming performance also power point is okay at Radeon once but what I'm afraid of is heating point
Cause I used a laptop that overheats like a hell so my question is Will it bypass 48 C temperature with this Radeon GPU?
At end I may go for Radeon once if below are on it: (What I want to know if the features below are on it or not this is questions)
Heating not bypass 49 C or 50 C (while gaming)
Direct X 12 well supported
A better performance even by 0.5% and well supported driver updates (at gaming)
Reasons may I go for GT 920m:
Newer
Direct X 12 well supported
Less heat ( I believe it won't bypass 49 or 50 C temperature)
Well supported driver updates
Reasons may I go for Radeon once:
All I listed above but one more thing: The price
And at end my question is:
Is Acer good brand for laptops?
And does it provide well supported updates?
Does the Radeon GPU above gets good driver updates like GT 920m and support direct X 12 well like GT 920m?
And at end should I go for Acer once and save a penny or worth the extra price and get the Dell once?

As far as drivers AMD is currently supporting GCN architecture based cards like the 8750M through their reference drivers and has recently released new beta hotfix drivers on the 4th.

Looking further in it may note be much less or at all. Given I was thinking the 920m was Maxwell based but it is Kepler. Which also cuts on it's support for DX12 as Kepler's DX12 feature level is below AMD's GCN and Nvidia's Maxwell. Whereas Maxwell and GCN are decently close in this regard. I wouldn't say Acer is a good brand but how good an individual notebook is depends on the design and parts used even the best brands make duds. As far as update support I have never really seen an OEM provide good support in that regard. but AMD and Nvidia do good in providing GPU driver support.

The Radeon and Geforce both get good driver support and the Radeon has better DX12 support compared to the 920m on the newest drivers.
At the end of the day though I would say look at the individual models and see what people said about them as that might give you an idea of what issues might pop up for that model of notebook otherwise the 8750m is the better bet spec wise.

You answered all my questions and ended the confusion thanks!
The Acer laptop is Acer aspire e1 E572G with core i5 4200 and 4 gig ram (adding 4 gig later and result in 8 gig ram)
I just looked for reviews from users who bought it and said its good and there is no big overheats
And also it's overcloockable without much overheating (not really looking for overclock)
