Dual Monitor Causing System to Run Slowly

Hi All,

Ever since upgrading my system to the specs below, my dual monitor (2x Asus VG248QE) setup has been slow. Like REALLY slow. Feels like I'm getting 4 FPS in windows explorer (if that's even a thing). It has given me the Windows Aero error a couple times, but has not done it for a while. I have been racking my brain on why it is doing this because I know my system is more than capable of running this setup. I've clean installed a couple times with no results. I had no problems with my old FX-6200 and GTX 660 SC. I just received the 970 today because I thought the 660 was the issue. Sadly it doesn't appear to be... Only thing I haven't done is update the bios, but I was told that if it isn't broke then don't do it. Maybe it is worth giving it a shot now. No overclocks on the CPU yet either. Just the XMP profiles on the RAM.

The specs are:
CPU: i5 6600K
MBO: Asus MAXIMUS VIII GENE Z170
RAM: 16 GB G. Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 2400
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 240 GB
HDD: 2 basic drives
Case: Silverstone FT-03
PSU: EVGA Supernova 750 G2
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Any help y'all can provide would be amazing. I have 4 years of computer experience so give it to me straight please. First impressions of this system are pure disgust because its not performing as it should with the second monitor. Bit disappointed, but I know the problem is something minor. I'm just not seeing it. Has been running fine with one monitor on games and coding for work, but I want me second one back!

Thanks!

UPDATE

Finally upgraded to Windows 10. Issues went away. I blame Microsoft lol :heink:

Whatever grimlens were causing the problem they have went away with the upgrade. Now I have to uncheck all the privacy stuff

All cables are coming out of the GPU. I've checked them to make sure they are working and also have switched the main monitor between the two to make sure it's not the monitors. Still having the slow, choppy, ghosting affect when browsing windows and applications when using the second monitor. It's like it doesn't have the juice to run it, even though I know it can.

All drivers are up-to-date. For the longest time I thought it might be GeForce Experience because it has been giving me problems. IE: Failing to launch/work. After it does this I notice the slow graphics really bad. I restart and the problem goes away for a short time but has a way of coming back.

I've tried this before when I had my 660 and it didn't seem to be a perfect fix. I've done it again now that I have my new card so I'll give it some time and see if these "gremlins" come back. I got the Windows Aero error again stating that it recommends me use the windows basic setup. When in the basic setup I have no issues either. Just the ugly looks which is disappointing.

Could it be a Windows 7 issue? I'm starting to lean more towards that. I'm hesitant to switch to Windows 10 but if that will solve whatever issues I'm having, then I guess it's time.

I'll give an update on things after the weekend...

Yeah let me know how that goes
