Hi. Just put a new build together:
I-5 6600k processor
GA-Z170X-UD5 motherboard
Windows 10 64-bit
Samsung SSD 850 Evo 250gb

When I boot up the computer with only the SSD plugged into the motherboard SATA port it takes me to BIOS. This is normal, I think.

But when I also plug the optical drive into a SATA port and try booting up the computer I get the following error: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is problem #1.

So, what I did is I inserted the windows 10 cd I bought into the optical drive and rebooted the computer again. It booted up fine and gave me the option of choosing which device I want to boot from. I go through the initial "collection" process of the windows installation where I have to enter my product key, accept the terms etc., and, before it begins the actual installation, I keep getting this message from Windows: "The computer started using the windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade." This is problem #2.

I get this error even when the SSD is the #1 booting option on the list.

So, I removed the windows CD from the optical drive and reboot the computer. Guess what comes up...the message I had before: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key."

Am I plugging things into the wrong SATA ports? What's going on?!

I just want to install the operating system on my SSD and hook up the hard drive later!

Any help is appreciated!!
