Is this a good deal?

I'm not going to say were I found this, but I am able to buy a EVGA GEFORCE GTX 670 SC for just short of 140$. Is this a good deal in the expert opinion? The card is clocked just short of 1ghz and features 4gb of DDR5 VRAM. The particular listing I'm looking at claims that it was lightly used but is currently in top quality condition.

So is this a good deal? All my research says yes, but I'd like to be confirmed.

It is used and it is older than other GPUs + consumes power power as well + runs hotter. Those are my only concerns.

As of RIGHT NOW, it looks like an okay-ish deal. It is always the difference between used and new b/c you can get a new 2GB 760 for $160.

It really depends on what you want more. If I was in your situation, at least with my preferences, I would buy new or at...

I think you've mistaken the GTX 670 SC for the base model 670. As far as performance is concerned, the GTX 670 SC beats the 760 and comes very, very close to the 960. Considering that the GTX 670 SC has two more gigs of VRAM then the 960 and 760 I'd say that for approximately 45$ dollars cheaper, the 670 is the better deal.

You said that you could find the 960 for under 130$. I've been searching for a graphics card for over five months now (ebay, cragslist, etc.) and have yet to find any card in the 900's series for that price.

Of course, this is all by my own research and instinct. If you have a comeback message then please share your insight.

Surely GTX 670 = GTX 760 = GTX 960 is a generalization I have made but that does not change the point. GTX 670 is an older card and will not have as extensive support as a 960 or 760 do. With 2GB of VRAM, I agree it is beneficial but it is used and it is not my money.

In the benchmarks you will actually see marginal difference between 760 and 960: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaVItZDQAV0

GTX 670, although may outperform the 760 in some situations, is roughly equal in real-world performance as well.

Yes, I did find some GTX 960's for under $130 last summer. I even saw one get sold before my eyes at $110 price point.

I did a quick google of the VS between the cards and found this website. It seems to sum up what I've said fairly close. Here's the links.

Check the benchmarks section at the bottom of the pages.

Also I still find it very hard to believe that you've witnessed a 960 card sell for 110$. You must be mistaking the card name. The GTX 960 was only released last year. It seems fairly impossible that a newly released, 220$ card would go for 120$ less than it's price new. It's possible that you viewed a very dumb seller because that listing sounded way to good to be true.

Since you seem to think that the listing isn't a good deal, what would the price have to be in order for you to buy the mentioned card? 130$? 110$?

I am not mistaken. People are dumb. That happens and you need to be ready to take advantage of that. 960 went away for $150-160 and some dumb sellers got rid of them for $130 and lower. The lowest priced 960 I see now is like $150 so yeah.

Also, NEVER use gpuboss as a reference.

I don't, I actually didn't find that site until a few minutes ago. It sums up what I've been comparing fairly accurately so I don't see how it could be wrong if my other sources are saying the same thing.

It really depends on what you want more. If I was in your situation, at least with my preferences, I would buy new or at least get a used card that will last (support-wise).

If you want to go with 670, go for it. It is not a bad card at all.
