Recently my gtx660ti out of the blues got stuck at 800x600 and it doesnt let me install any drivers everytime i install it, it gives an unknown error. i tried updating drivers from device manager and there GPU was detected as an unknown device, not even in the 'display' category. after restart i went to device manager again and it showed gtx 660ti in 'display' category but with a yellow mark. in the properties it said 'this device has malfunctioned and is not receiving control signals'... same error in 3 PCs. i know most of u will say its dead but i cannot afford a new card, is there anyway to make it work?

it's legit. seriously, i resurrected a GTX 9800 with it; not sure what to tell you. It can work. it also can kill the card. Depends on luck mostly. make sure you take all the plastic parts off the card as well as the heatsink. you'll need to reapply thermal paste at all the contact points. follow the instructions in the initial post.

still as I will say over and over again it can also KILL your gpu. so only try this as a last resort. you asked if there was a way to stretch out the life of your gpu. technically the answer is no. There is no way to fix your gpu. However you said you don't have the $$ to replace it and wanted a last chance option. Well, here it is. Its literally the only thing i know of which might fix your card.

It certainly can make the situation worse.

Still if you have no other option, this might be worth your time and effort to do, because as I said, I have made it work with a GTX 9800. I also had it fail on a HD 3850. so don't expect too much.
