The HD7870, still worth it?

Hi, I live in Malaysia, where the prices for GPUs are high and the taxes even higher. So, you can imagine how hard it is to look for a decent GPU for under RM500, or uhh... divide that by 4, it would be around $150 I think. Recently I found a Sapphire HD7870 for RM490, or $130-ish in a nearby store. With Polaris and Pascal coming out, not to mention more graphically intense games that are being released, is the HD7870 2GB version still able to roll out playable framerates at 1080p? I'm using a Dell Precision T3500 with an Intel Xeon W3503. I won't be upgrading to 1440p or 4K anytime soon.

Solution
The PS4 essentially has a 7870 gpu, and that can play most titles at 1080p. So you will essentially be on par with console graphics, but you will have access to PC games. And the cpu you have is much stronger than any console.

Heh, I won't be looking at those until they go under $200! Which could be one or two years to be honest. Say, what do you mean when you say ultrawide monitor? Is it 1080p?

Wow. On par with a PS4? I think I'm good for a couple of years, :D. I'm thinking of replacing my cpu with a quad core xeon, more specifically the W3530. For future compatibility of course. Farcry 4 doesn't cooperate with dual cores and I doubt AAA titles in the future will either.
