No display output when inserting graphics card

Hello,

I've just put together a small ITX build and got stuck on the Graphics card.

I'm using a ASUS H81i-plus motherboard running Ubuntu and the display works fine from the motherboard.

Now I try to insert a Zotac GTX 750 ti graphics card and seem to be stuck in a sort of catch 22.

When I insert the gpu there is no display signal from neither the gpu or the motherboard.

When I remove the gpu to get a running display and install the graphics driver it says that there is no compatible card, which ofcourse is true.

I'm using a Corsair CX500M psu which should be sufficient, there seem to be no additional power cable needed and the fan on the gpu is running fine.

According to pcpartpicker the parts should be compatible.

Any sort of suggestions are welcome!

I just check the Zotac website, it's powered by the PCI-E lane, so no cables are needed. Funny, usually 750ti's are quite power hungry.

But yeah definitely check your primary video controller, it might be conflicting with your onboard graphics.

That is a part of my problem. As soon as I plug the gpu in I get no working display (not even from the ports on the motherboard) and thus cannot check BIOS.

When the graphics card is not in, go into the BIOS and check that the primary video controller is the PCI-E on your motherboard.

Just to double check, you have plugged in the power cables into the GPU?

I have looked for any sign of additional power sockets on the gpu but cannot find any sockets on the card and there is nothing in the manual suggesting that there would be one. As the pgu fan is working I've assumed that there is no additional power needed?

Is this a faulty conclusion?

If it is, how do I find the powersocket??

Will check in BIOS when I get home from work.

Hmm,

I should really have picked you previous answer as the actual answer. Can't seem to find how to change that now.

Anyway, assigning PCI-E as my primary video controller solved the issue. Thank you!
