Hi Everyone
I am a newbie and seem to have the proverbial problem of buying new compatible Ram that just creates havoc with my pc.
Specs are as follows
Manufacturer Intel Corporation
Model DG965SS (LGA 775)
Version AAD41678-308
Chipset Vendor Intel
Chipset Model P965/G965
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Dual Channel support Yes

I had 4 x 512mb with the pc when purchased with varying makes models/ crucial/ samsung etc all working fine providing 2GB in total
Checked with crucial scanner advised 8gb compatible CT25664AA667 - pc 5300

Also confirmed this on Intel website as a tested model

Vendor self-tested memory
Intel supplies the memory vendors that participate in this program with a common memory test plan to use as a basic checkout of the memory stability. Memory listed here was either tested by the memory vendor or by Intel using this test plan. These part numbers may not be readily available throughout the product life cycle.

The table below lists parts which passed testing conducted using Intel's Self Test program for the Intel® Desktop Board DG965SS
Crucial CT25664AA667.16FE 2 GB 667 5-5-5 Non-ECC DSx8 0652

I have checked there is no bios update. There is a chipset update but do not know if its relevant.

I get the windows 10 logo screen of death it just hangs permanently. Each individual piece of 2gb RAM works in a variety of combinations, all slots, all pieces, just not more than 1 piece at a time
& yes I have tested it and yes I have seated in the correct slot combos 0&0 (blue) and 1&1. (black)
I'm just getting nowhere

please help -just spent a fortune on RAM which I cant use !

Hi I have checked the intel website and there doesn't seem to be an update unless I am missing it.
There is a chipset update? but I'm not sure if that is relevant??

Hi After much research I do not have the latest bios I am about 14 versions behind (yes I know how did I miss it)
Anyway I have now spent hours (read days) trying to update the bios to accept the new ram but I cant even get the bios to update. In exe mode it simply creates an error. If I create an flash it runs and says failed and I dont have a cd write to do an iso image.
Any help would really be appreciated.
I'm on version 1676

This is the bios update page I'm working from

Hi I have tried this as per my last post. It runs the update then at the last second says update failed. I have tried with jumpers in place and moving /removing them. If I mess with the jumpers Pv won't even boot

Hi thanks for getting back. I did try the latest update at first but I've even been way back to update 1677 the next one after mine and it won't even update to the next one ?? Even on the original product spec guide it advises 8gb ram and I'm only trying to go from 2 to 4 it's really bizarre.
