Why does my DVD-R disk show that it's empty but still has all the files when explored?

Hi guys, so I burned a windows 7 iso file onto my DVD-R a while ago, and i wanted to copy the content onto my pc, so that i burn it into more DVD-R disks if that one failed!

But as soon as i noticed the disk after copying, it looked as if it was empty: http://imgur.com/Q2wkHoR

I don't remember if it was always like this, or if it became after copying the content to my PC!

When i opened the disk, I had all the windows files there as day 1, with a total of 3.10 GB worth of files! : http://imgur.com/CTp27N8

Why does it show that it is empty?

Should I use it to install windows, or did i corrupt the process and it will brick my pc?

Solution

if the data is corrupted, need to burn it again. there isn't much to test it without installing it.

What would happen if i attempt to install windows 7 with it tho?

It only goes to sleep when it's not in use, or it should only be going to sleep when not in use.

Try with a different disk.

How/what program did you use to burn the first iso? did you use windows drag and drop method? that may leave "waiting to be written" files around that windows thinks are gonna be there (thus drive is empty).

I used Power Iso to burn the downloaded image from Windows website! I never drag and drop, since that won't work and will make the disk useless for burning!

Maybe it's just something I could ignore? The problem is, i don't want to format my pc to find out, as i don't wanna go through all that hussle and i also dont have a spare pc to test it on!

So there is no chance of corrupted OS when loaded from BIOS as boot option, and during installation?

That's what I'm worried about! I don't care if the disk is broken, i can swap it in a minute, I just don't want to end up with a corrupted system!
