Physical memory usage high

How can I find out what's hogging it and how to reduce it.

My machine has 4gb ram installed, but it doesn't seem like the programs are able to use it as it's getting tied up elsewhere.

My online backup is not functioning correctly, and the company are telling me I need to reduce my memory usage down to below 50% for it to function.

Assuming you're running Windows, all Windows installations come with a task manager that has a tab within the program you can use to view performance. So to get that open, right click on the date/time down on the bottom right and hit "start task manager". Or if you have Windows 10, you can search for it.

Once it's open, open the performance tab and you can then see for sure what your usage is. If it turns out your RAM is high, you can open the "processes" tab, sort by memory and see what's eating it up.
