Hello!
After a clean install of Windows 10 i encountered an error which was solved for almost year.
I have installed a SSD drive and an HDD in caddy. After that HDD was almost unaccesible, becouse it wasn't recognized by system most of the time, Sometimes putting laptop into sleep, and then after waking up makes everything working OK. Sometimes everything is OK from beginning and suddenly HDD drops. Sometimes nothing works. I resolved the problem somehow in 8.1, but I hava no idea what have I done. Now I tried everything I remembered (Intel Rapid Storage, Power Mangement, Audio Drivers (!) ) and nothing helped. HDD is in good condition. I had almost no problem before clean install.
Can anybody help me?
Laptop: Lenovo G510
System: Win 10 (64)
SSD: Crucial_CT120M500SSD1
HDD: WDC WD10JPCX-24UE4T0

Hello,
this exact same thing started happening to me about a week ago. I have the same laptop but a Samsung SSD 850 EVO. Yesterday I reinstalled the Windows and formatted the HDD and it seems fine so far. I read another thread which suggested it was because of the incompatibility of some Lenovo drivers and Intel Rapid Storage so I did not install it.
I should mention that this started happening shortly after I updated BIOS - I was on W10 and installed the only BIOS update available which was for W8.1

If you disable hardware driver updates and install RST from lenovo driver download page, the problem seems to be solved. It has worked fine for 2 weeks so far.
Welcome to the community, mighty!

It sounds like there is a shortage of power supply to the HDD, my recommendation would be to check the SATA connections to it in the caddy and make sure you that it's mounted properly. I'd even re-seat the drive just to be certain that it's plugged correctly. I'd also suggest you to try using a different compatible caddy with your laptop, it's highly possible that the SATA connector there has failed.
If you want to rule out the WD drive as the source of the issue, you can also try connecting it to a different computer and see if it disconnects from there.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! :)

Thank you for your reply!
This is not faulty SATA connections, because finally, by sleeping and waking up computer, drive was on all night (I was uploading files to the cloud to format the HDD drive) and nothing bad happened. I checked it two times this night and files were uploaded correctly, without errors and I had access to all files. Then sleeped laptop and after waking it up HDD was working for minute or two and again disappeared. I'm almost sure, that it's software error. Solution that was made before installing new system solved this problem almost completely. I need to find, what was that, but I will check the caddy again today. I will have a chance to check HDD drive in another computer most likely in monday :(
Again, thank you for your attention :)

EDIT: I booted laptop from USB (SLAX Linux) serveral times to test and everything was OK. It must be software issue.
EDIT2: bump

I have the same issue....but with a seagate drive..and ADATA 128GB Drive.. Any thoughts? Answers? Tested my drive using seatools..all tests passed..
Its clearly something to do with software either BIOS, Windows 10 or INTEL RST..?
Any thoughts?
