Hello guys! I am planning to buy Lenovo ThinkPad P50 with Intel Xeon E3-1505M processor. However Intel just released E3-1575 which has Iris Pro 580 GPU. They are both Skylake and 14nm processors.

I dont want to wait E3-1575 available as option, I want to buy 1505 now, then I might upgrade.

Is it possible to upgrade? Do I have to make any software change? or just open the laptop, remove the 1505, put the 1575 back in, thats all?

Solution
Sadly, you can't do that since all mobile Xeons use a BGA package, which essentially means that it's soldered to the motherboard and can't be upgraded unless you have some very expensive equipment :(

Does it mean, CPU is permanently sticked to the motherboard?
