Hi, I just bought a palit 4gb nvidia geforce gtx 770 and I mounted it on my sabertooth P67 (LGA1155) on the first socket of my motherboard. It says It's running at x8 instead of x16.. i tried reeboting already and the card is properly into the motherboard, cable pins too. Do I have to search for an update of the bios?
I have an Intel Core i5 2500K
4GB RAM gskill ARES
palit GeForce GTX 770 4GB
os Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Thanks!

Now you mention a sound card move it to the very top PCI-E 1 slot, or the X1 slot just below the video card not in the X16 long slot.

yes is set to high in performances also I'm 90% sure power saving is off..ill check and i'll brb. This pc had 2 gtx 570 sli on, now im using a single gpu, wondering if there is an option in bios that controls the power that goes into the pci-e... im completely noobish about pcie configuration but i guess its related to that.. also might be necessary a bios update??

EDIT:HIGH performances ON, power saving is OFF as far as I'm concerned but I have enhance intel speedstep technology ENABLED and EPU power saving mode ENABLED... might be related to PCI-E x1_2 u3 MODE??

EDIT**: PCIE power management is off.. nothing changed

Did you click the BLUE ? and make it run the short test? It's right beside where it shows the speed it's running.
If you did I would try resetting CMOS.
YOU DID DELETE AND REINSTALL A NEW DRIVER RIGHT?

I uninstalled everything, swiped drivers, re installed drivers, still at x8.. I'll try with CMOS reset..

EDIT: CMOS reset, I entered the BIOS and replaced high performance setup.. still running at x8 on GPUZ CPUZ and speccy. they all say its running at x8 while max capacity is x16

be careful you are not using the shared bandwith slots

you were using shared bandwith slots

some slots share bandwith, like the two pcie slots share x16

single card = x16

two cards = 8x, 8x

other slots also share bandwith, which slot did you have the soundcard plugged into?

i moved it into the third x1 slot below the first pcie slot where the gpu was.. since the gtx 770 is 4gb is kinda big i had to put the sound card into the third slot available. the first x1 slot is not available since i installed a fan on the motherboard... i guess ill have to take that fan away and put the soundcard in the first slot as Zerk2012 mentioned.. :S

as i said to maxalge i had the soundcard into a x1 slot i never thought that could cause the bandwith split.. 0.0 anyway ill try to remove the fan on the motherboard i added to make space for the very first x1 slot available and put there the sound card hope that works.. THANKS for the help ill pick this as the solution since i didnt think about the sound card to do that.. SORRY im really noobish on this matters! :S
