Hi guys, I recently bought a M5A96 R2.0 mobo

I was building my computer and I found there are no CPU covers on this mother board.

Is this normal for this particular model? I inserted the CPU anyway because I saw nothing on the manual stating I have to put a cover on it, and even though it had no cover, the CPU socket held the processor in place firmly.

There's not gonna be a problem with my CPU right?

Solution
As long as there is thermal paste applied, and there is a suction contact between the heat sink and the cpu, and the heat sink is firmly latched into place, you're good.

You're using the stock heat sink I'm guessing, and there are brackets screwed into the board. That heat sink latches onto the brackets above and below the cpu.

Should look like this.

Intel has the cover.

So the heatsink is suppose to press against the cpu itself? Won't it damage the cpu?

I have the FX-8350 and the heatsink it came with is not held in place from the mobo with screws, it has lever that pushes it self to the surface of the cpu to keep it self from falling instead

Not sure, the only reasons I have reapplied thermal paste for my CPU was after switching the heat sink to a Hyper 212 Evo.

If you notice later on that your CPU is getting hotter than normal, it would be a good idea to reapply thermal paste to see if that helps at all.
