Hello guys,
I’m sorry to bring another thread like this to the forum but I’ve checked alot of other threads that just don’t seem to describe the same issue that I am having right now.
Recently my Seagate external hard drive stopped working, I can only guess it’s because I occasionaly didn’t save eject it.
When I insert the USB, the device powers up and gives the connect sound, but doesn’t show up with the other devices at the “my computer’’ tab.
It does show up as ‘’expansion’’ at the eject icon just like my other hard drive which is still working, but it doesn’t show it's letter like (H: ). This prevents me from trying the popular command promt solution.
It still shows up at the Device Manager but doesn’t show any details about capacity etc. The Device Manager also freezes as soon as I try to find out more information there.
I’ve ran a program called Partition Wizard to check the drivers and it doesn’t show up there either.
I tried using different cables and different computers without succes.
I don’t feel comfortable with using recovery software because there is over 800gb of material on there and I don’t think a software would handle that with succes.
What do you guys think about it? I’m running on a Windows 8. Let me know if you need anything cleared up or additional information.
Thanks in advance,
Rani
