I recently bought the asus rt-n66u at the time of buying i did not know this a dsl (rj-45) router, and in my house i have a phone line in which i split to adsl (rj-11) and phone. My first question is Do i need a modem to go with this router? What modem should i buy to go with this? And are there any other easier/cheaper solutions possible?

Solution
RJ45 is not DSL.

DSL = Digital Subscriber Line
ADSL = Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line

Asynchronous simply means that the donwstream and upstreams speeds are not the same.

Your DSL modem should have an RJ45 jack to connect to a PC - use this jack to connect to your new router, then connect the router to your PC.
