So guys I wanted to get opinions on what you think will happen to the price of 900 series cards once pascal is released. As I understand it two cards will be launched first the new titan type flag ship model and the 1080 which will be similar in performance to the current 970s. I currently run 970 sli and I'm very happy with it and while I have no real issues I would prefer to swap to a single gpu. As ridiculous as it sou DS I like super clean minimal systems and sli just doesn't quite do it for me. I'm in no hurry to swap but wondered how you guys feel prices of the 980 980ti will be effected. As of right now im not looking looking at amd cards while I love the look of the fury sapphire nitro i moved from amd because of driver issues and months later it doesn't seem much better so at this point don't consider them a viable option.

Solution
At launch I predict prices wont waver much. The flagship launch cards (Like the titan) probably wont impact prices too much. Later on when the mainstream and Titanium cards drop I think the price of the 9xx series will dip slightly, then go up. You have to remember once a new series launches production halts on the old series. Prices my drop for a bit to get rid of old stocks, but then the prices go back up (over retail) for little remaining stocks.

Probably they will not going to affecr the price much. In fact in can go up like Gam3r01 said because of limited stock available at that time. Nvidia usually EOL their cards much earlier before launching new series. Might have some official price drop but it won't be massive like we usually see on red team.

I was under the impression that the GP100 was the new Titan card which was coming out around April time. Thats certainly the roadmap that was on Awesome Hardware a few weeks back

its been less than a year since flagship maxwell gm200 was released. the finfet 14/16 process isn't going as planned either.

its roughly two years between flagship replacements for both nvidia and amd gpus.

unless they are pushing a new accelerated generational timeline, i guess its possible. it somewhat depends on what amd is doing. but to undercut their own cards prices would be strange. unless they plan on selling the pascal titan right now for $1500.

It makes sense but I guess I figured tht the titan x would come down with its similar performance point to the 980 ti and the new unit would occupy that $1000-$1200 range.

The timeline im working from is the one from Awesome Hardware's video a few weeks back so i could be well off the mark.

its at the beginning some where, im too scared to flick through less I have to listen to Paul sing A whole new world again

pushing down all the prices of nvidias entire line wouldn't be beneficial at all since they would be cutting into their top selling cards profits. they may come out with a "pascal titan" soon, but it may only be barely faster than the current maxwell titan x but with lower power draw and hbm memory. the "actual" flagship pascal is still relatively very far away. otherwise maybe later in the year we will see a 1070/1080? that straddles the performance of a 980ti. but big pascal will come after that.
