What DDR 3 Ram will work with motherboard & cpu

I have a GIGABYTE GA-B75M-HD3 MATX 1155 motherboard and a SandyBridge i5 2300 core. The specs state that: "To support DDR3 1600 MHz, you must install an Intel® 22nm (Ivy Bridge) CPU that supports DDR3 1600 MHz." Using CPU-Z I have 2 Crucial Tech Ram PC3-12800 H modules running at 800 mhz max bandwith (SPD tab).

Several questions. First, what is the actual speed of the Ram -- is it running at 1600. (have heard different things about the actual speed) 2. Is it possible to tweak ram, so it will run at 1600 or faster? 3. Will newer DDR3 ram modules work at 1600 or faster on my machine? 4. If I get ram that is above the max 1333 specification, such as 1600 or 2200 will it automatically go down to the 1333 speed, or will it run even slower.? I have Windows 7 Home premium and would like to install 16 gigs of ram.

Any help will be appreciated.

Your CPU might be able to run 1600, but wouldn't count on it. It's native 1333. COuld try running 1600 sticks, will prob have to loosen timings and add DRAM voltage, but don't really think you'd see much if any improvement over 1333 sticks

Should have added that I currently have 8g of ram and that my system is 64 bit.

that is what allow it to run OC at 2200. but you don't have a ivy bridge so no.

RGD & Tradesman: Since 1333 modules are hard to find, what is your best suggestion as to how to get the best 16 g of memory I can use for my machine.
