Throwing my old HDD from my old computer into this new rig. Got the fans spinning, though can't get the panel lights on. More importantly, I can't get the display to work using my HDMI cable - old computer was VGA only and this thing doesn't have an VGA slot. I can hear the hard drive at work too... Any ideas?

Edit: Using a Toshiba TV with two HDMI slots and a VGA slot. Currently do not have an actual PC monitor to test on.

Solution
The Bios isn't saved on your hard drive, it has it's own flash memory on the motherboard. If it doesn't work without the GPU being connected, then you might have a broken part. I'll ask you to try a couple of different things :

-Using only 1 RAM stick, try all the different slots to see if anything happens, both with and without the graphics card being installed.
-If you have a friend who has a computer that could accommodate your new GPU, ask him if you can try yours in his, but I'm pretty sure the problem isn't the GPU because you're getting the same results with the iGPU.

-Make sure the Display cable is connected to the GPU's ports and not the motherboard's.
-If that doesn't work, remove the GPU and go into the Bios. Set the display on boot to be from PCI-E.
-Make sure all the power cables are properly plugged into your R9 380.

Its plugged into the card, and I know its powered - light is on and fans are spinning. As for going to BIOS, I can't DO that right now since it won't even show anything.

My old rig doesn't have a slot for the GPU, but do you think I could put the hard drive back in there, go to BIOS and switch display there? Even without the GPU plugged into the mobo and using the mobo's HDMI port I don't have a display
