EVGA GeForce 980 Ti Hybrid
Crucial MX200 1TB
Ripjaws V 32GB

I am curious how long you all think this setup will last (in terms of high to Ultra settings) for new games in the years to come. I plan to add another GPU in the near future but want to get some opinions on how long this system will be able to play new demanding games on the higher settings.

Any help or opinions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Solution
As long as anything you could currently build. All the features that are present in Skylake which might futureproof are also present in Haswell-E. My guess is 5 years which is well in excess of the standard computer obsolescence cycle of 3 years.

Who knows, maybe even longer. Considering the problems that Intel is having at getting to a 10nm production process going, that cycle might fall apart. Or some smartass might come along, introduce the desktop quantum computer and everything will go out the window (literally).

I dont know about 5 years on ultra.
The 780Ti, which was the flagship card 2 years ago, is already falling into the 30s in terms of FPS on ultra in modern games.

Your processor will easily last 5 years, but the graphics card will likely need an upgrade.

Thanks guys! That is what I was hoping to hear. I know that the future is always unknown when it comes to the demands of newer games but I wanted to get some opinions from people that are more capable of making these predictions than I, as I only joined the PC gaming world <2 years ago.

Thanks again!
