I'm looking to get a new case with more fan slots but my mobo only has oone fan plug. My question is, can you power a case fan directly from the PSU? Also, my PSU has multiple 4 pin "peripheral" connectors. Thanks! :)

Solution
yes there are many 4pin molex to three pin fan adapters, and if you feel brave with a soldering iron you do not even need those adapters ( bye bye warranties though) so just use your unused peripherals connectors with the adapters, or get fans that take a molex 4 pin for power.

glad to help! just remember, you will not have speed control over the fan so if you like quiet get quiet fans, or ones that have a low noise adapter. some really neat ones have potentiometers already soldered on the leads so you can change the speed anytime.
