I chose this over the one with a number pad because it was overkill on buttons for me and i would save the extra bucks. After I order it I read complaints saying it was not living up to it's expectation and that it was lacking in build, weight, and program features compared to other mouses such as the Mammoth. My question is,... Is the mouse worth it and is it as bad as some people say?

I've found that the major issues with gaming mice usually come with them being too large or too small for your hand. So long as the mouse ergonomically fits your hand, you should be fine almost regardless of which mouse you're using. As long as it's fairly comfortable to start, before long your muscle memory will kick in and you should be fine. If you still find it uncomfortable after a few days, I'd say it's not for you and to try something else.
Hope this helps.
