Can I use multiple capture cards in one computer and use them all at once?

I want to have a computer that is just for recording. So I would want to have up to 4 capture cards, lets say the Elgato Card. Would this be possible with both software and what would I need for hardware to run all this?

If the software you use allows you to choose which card to utilize, then yes you can do this.
