main question i have besides feedback is can i drop to an Corsair RM850i - 80 PLUS Gold, Fully Modular psu or should i stay with the 1000 watt psu.
 
Solution
nice build. 850w is way more than enough. you can run a second 980 with that much power. if you do plan to add another one down the road the 1000w might not be a bad idea anyway.
