I have browsed the web for hours now and I can't get passed this error. I am installing from an iso on a usb in a 2.0 slot. I have read that using 3.0 is usually the problem but obvously that isn't it. I have also read motherboard drivers can often fix it specifically sata drivers. I have all my mobo drivers both on the usb with the iso and a seperate usb plugged into a 2.0. Yet the 2nd usb doesn't even show ip on the windows 7 install screen where it says to select driver to be installed even though I can see it in the bios. And the drivers on the usb with the iso are nowhere to be found when I dig into it on the secet driver to install screen. How can I fix this or even install these drivers with no os? Please help

Solution

MSI Z170A M5, I ended up finding a program on their forums called MSI Windows 7 smart tool that adds drivers to your iso file and it fixed everything thank god

Hey I'm having the same issue. Except my mobo is the m7 version. The MSI Smart Tool doesn't seem to be working for me though. How did you do it?

Download rufus

Mount Windows 7 ISO on a usb drive

Insert drive usb before booting up pc

Boot up pc

From the BIOS select your usb drive as the main source from where you boot your OS

Done (?)

you got to use the skylake win-7 tool to insert the missing usb drivers ??

http://wccftech.com/intel-skylake-remove-support-usb-based-windows-7-installation-platform-specs/

then you may need to look forward to this

your board under win -7 downloads /utility's -- '' Application to easy install Windows 7. ''

https://us.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/Z170A-GAMING-M5.html#down-utility&Win7 64

from asrock on this seeing msi don't explain this well [100 series ]
