Hello

Surely this is easy, hope I've got the right thread.

Upgraded to Win10.

I'm pretty sure I used to see two drivers under video in device manager in windows 7.

I'm only seeing Nvidia installed for the graphics.

Attempted to install Intel HD driver. Has not worked at all.

Should I still be seeing two drivers installed under 'Device Manager' in windows 10?

Here are the specs:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2760QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)
* Memory: 8.0GB DDR3 - Upgrade to 16GB (add $120)
* Graphics: NVIDIA® NVS™ 4200M with 512MB GDDR3
* Hard Drive: 500GB SATA - (See Upgrade Options Below)
* Optical Drive: CD/DVD Writer
* Display: 15.6" FHD Anti-Glare LED Widescreen (Resolution: 1920x1080)
* Audio: IDT High Definition
* Networking: Intel 82579LM Gigabit
* Wireless: Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205
* SD & Smart Card Reader
* Ports: 4 x USB2, eSata, VGA, HDMI
* Genuine Dell 90 AC Adapter

Really would love some info on this.

Thanks in advance.

Ash

HAve you ever used your integrated graphics of your i7?
Because if you used that on windows 7 then got the graphics card after that. Its logic you would see 2 drivers.
And since your monitor is showing of only the nvidia one, is because you didnt used the i7.
I have exactly the same thing, further there should be no problems because you only use the nvidia for graphics.
And if you have display showing up, your processor works fine.

Right, the last piece of your answer makes perfect sense.
Out of wanting more info, you are asking if I installed the i7 integrated graphics driver first, and then installed the Nvidia second, which would then result in seeing two drivers installed under video driver in device manager?

Just so I understand; The i7 comes with its own integrated graphics, but if you have a graphics card, its the card which takes over that duty and leaves the i7 to do its thing? Just trying to understand as im a noob, and I want to understand the logic behind it.

Thanks for your time

It means it will work without graphics card.
The thing i mean is, did you allways have the graphics card, or did you ever ran your pc without the graphics card installed?
So on your i7 integrated graphics.

on older pc and mb that have onboard video when you install a gpu it turns off the onboard video. with windows 10 and your mb the onboard video was disabled when you did the upgrade/install so it did not install the drivers that it needed. if the gpu fails or you pull the gpu and onboard video turns back on windows 10 will install the drivers it needs for the older onboard video chipset.

WOW, pals, it's a laptop.

Therefore there has to be 2 graphics adapter in hardware manager. If not, the onboard graphics is disabled in bios or something else is wrong. If the NVIDIA is used for the whole time, the laptop will not work for long without an external power supply.

Try the Intel update utility or search for the correct driver on Dell.

Which model of Dell is it exactly?

Thanks for your answers.

Its a Dell Latitude E6520 with the above specs.

I have been to the website and tried basically all the video drivers for win7/8 now.
Have had Dell detect my system and install missing drivers. Still doesnt seem to pick up on that missing one.

Will try the update utility now.

Cheers

first of all, update the BIOS of the Latitude if not already done to the latest version from Dell.

uninstall the nvidia drivers with DDU uninstaller and install the Intel drivers for Win10 first, then the drivers from
install Intel HD drivers with the utility or manually from Intel.com

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
choose Product NVS - NVS series (notebook) - NVS4200M - Windows 10 64bit - Quadro ODE graphics driver (no different driver available) -> search

A late, blurry eyed, frustration filled night somehow ending myself up in some forum somewhere and trying another solution... and it worked!

The Solution for anyone who may strike this!

For some reason it was the Optimus Technology setting in the Bios had been set to 'off '.... So I switched it on... and there you go.
Two 'Microsoft display adapters' were now showing up on ' display adapters' under Device manager.
Installed intel video and then Nvidia. Done. brilliant. Holy hell, computers man.
Thank you all for you help!
